COVID-19 Campus Policies
A mandatory vaccination policy for all three U-M campuses and Michigan Medicine is in effect. This policy applies to all faculty, staff, and students and was developed to protect our community from COVID-19 infections and provide for a safe return to campus. You are encouraged to view our website for additional information and answers to frequently asked questions, as well as the winter semester website for more specifics regarding this upcoming semester. New students (including online students) must be in compliance with the vaccination policy by January 3, 2022.
How to Become Compliant with the Vaccine Requirement
To be in compliance with the vaccine requirement, individuals must report proof of vaccine by submitting information via the COVID-19 Vaccination Completed form.
Students in fully online/remote courses for the Winter semester may be exempt from the vaccination mandate with a signed attestation form.
The university will grant limited exemptions for valid medical and religious reasons. To be considered for a vaccination exemption, please complete the COVID-19 Vaccination Exemption Request form. Those who are granted exemptions will be required to submit a weekly negative COVID test before being on campus. For more information, visit the Vaccine Mandate Enforcement page.
Face Covering Policy
The University of Michigan announced an updated face covering policy. The new policy requires all faculty, staff, students, and visitors to wear a face mask covering the mouth and nose at all indoor venues and on university transportation, regardless of vaccination status. Extensive research shows that transmission of COVID-19 is greatly reduced and lives are saved when all individuals wear face coverings while in public.
Exceptions to this policy include instances when an individual is alone in a single enclosed private office with the door closed; actively eating or drinking; receiving a service that requires them to temporarily take off their face covering along with other limited exclusions. A complete list of the exemptions can be found in the policy.
